Pelita Akademi was established on 16 February 1998 with a steadfast commitment to advancing maritime education and training in Malaysia and beyond. For over 27 years, we have played a pivotal role in shaping the maritime industry by providing high-quality education and professional development to both local and international clients. To date, we have proudly trained more than 60,000 maritime professionals worldwide.
Our academy is accredited by the Jabatan Laut Malaysia (JLM) under the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW). We are also recognized by the Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK) under the Ministry of Human Resources, offering programs under the Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) framework. In addition, Pelita Akademi is certified by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) for compliance with the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System — a testament to our dedication to excellence and continuous improvement.
Located in Batang Kali, Hulu Selangor, approximately one hour from Kuala Lumpur, our campus enjoys a strategic position in the heart of Peninsular Malaysia. This central location provides convenient accessibility for trainees from all regions — north, south, east, and west.
In 2021, Pelita Akademi received further accreditation from Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK) for the Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) and was recognized by Yayasan Pahang for our contributions to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) development.
Today, our training portfolio extends beyond existing seafarers to include fresh graduates and school leavers aspiring to build careers in the maritime industry. Our comprehensive programs span the full professional pathway — from Deck and Engine Ratings, to Officers and Engineers, up to Master and Chief Engineer qualifications for Near Coastal Trade Voyages and Domestic Voyages.
